My name is Helga, and I’m currently pursuing a degree in Architecture at Universidad Europea in Madrid. Originally from Korce, a small town in Albania, my passion for design and architecture ignited at a young age. Thanks to the support of my mentor Peter and the foundation, I was given the incredible opportunity to continue my studies in Madrid, a city I’ve always dreamed of living in where I’m learning, growing, and shaping my future.
One of the most defining experiences of my journey thus far was a two-week trip to San Salvador, El Salvador. Alongside a group of close friends, I traveled there on a mission to help rebuild a home for a family in need. These friends, whom I met through church, had made plans to rebuild their house, and we were there to help turn that vision into a reality.
Our team, composed of engineers, architects, and budget planners, came together with a shared purpose: to design and create a modern, functional home that would not only meet the family’s needs but also offer them a renewed sense of hope and security. We volunteered to handle every aspect of the project—from laying utilities and planning the infrastructure to selecting the final furnishings.
The true essence of this project was about serving others and bringing joy to the family by creating a space that would empower them to flourish. The most memorable moment came when I presented the final design to the family. Their beaming smiles and heartfelt gratitude left a lasting impact on me, reminding me why I chose architecture as my path.
This experience went beyond a typical project—it served as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact that architecture can have on people’s lives. It solidified my commitment to designing spaces that are not only functional but also beautiful, meaningful, and life-affirming. Each design I create is an opportunity to make a positive impact, and this journey reinforced my passion for creating environments that inspire hope, joy, and a sense of belonging.
