James Davis
I am currently an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for my local county ambulance serving one of the largest counties in Nevada. In my daily job I see several patients who need medical care ranging from simple issues to a life threatening emergencies. My role provides me with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Beyond patient care, I strive to educate and empower community members on health and safety practices, ensuring that they feel prepared and supported in emergencies. Being present in these situations has deepened my understanding of the trust and responsibility placed in emergency medical professionals, and it has strengthened my commitment to serving others with competence, compassion, and integrity.

Becoming a paramedic will allow me to expand the level of care I can provide, offering advanced interventions that can make the difference between life and death. With enhanced skills, I will be able to serve my community more comprehensively, reduce emergency response times, and provide higher quality pre-hospital care. The community benefits when its EMS professionals can deliver advanced care efficiently and effectively, and I am committed to being that resource.
Receiving the mentor scholarship has been instrumental in my journey toward becoming a paramedic. The guidance, encouragement, and knowledge shared by my experienced mentor has provided me with practical insights, professional development, and the confidence to pursue higher levels of training. This support has accelerated my learning, allowed me to refine my clinical skills, and strengthened my ability to contribute meaningfully to both the community I serve.

The mentor scholarship I have received has not only been helping me achieve my goals but also ensuring that I can continue to elevate the health and safety of my community.
