University of Nebraska Omaha: Elementary Education

I am currently a sophomore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha majoring in International Studies. I am combining my interest in international studies with my passion for education. In the future I hope to become an elementary school teacher. I have done a lot of volunteering and each time I really enjoyed spending time with elementary school students and children.

I am a refugee student and I didn’t know any English before coming to the United States. I had much to learn, not only about the language but also the culture of a new country.

Thanks to all of the outstanding teachers I have had, I’ve learned so much. Each one had a great influence in my life. One day I wish to become an outstanding teacher as well. As I am still new to college, I have a lot more to learn and am very excited about continuing my education and achieving my goals.

The Fund was established by Adam Brody, the founder of our parent organization Strategic Kids and owner of Academic Chess.

An opportunity I will have this next semester is mentoring elementary students.

Thanks to my mentor, Katie, I have a great role model and am confident in my mentoring skills. I am already very excited about gaining this experience.

I am very thankful to Mentors Foundation for giving me opportunity to continue pursuing my career as a UNO student. To give back to Mentors Foundation, I would like to become a TeamMates mentor in the future. I hope to have the same positive impact on children that my teachers and mentor have had on me.
