Laurie Venteicher
Hello, everyone! I am the sixth child of nine, and I grew up on a small-operation dairy farm in rural northeast Nebraska. My mom is a stay-at-home mom and my parents have taught me many valuable life lessons about hard work, integrity, perseverance and pursing my passions. I love to travel and studied abroad in the Netherlands during my sophomore year of college. During the summer of 2015 I was in Beijing, China volunteering at a non-profit organization called Chunmiao Little Flower.
The most immediate plans I have include finishing my senior year of college and graduating next spring. If everything works out, I will be an intern at the Kearney Hub newspaper for a semester, as well as continuing my role as the copy editor of The Antelope, the campus newspaper for the University of Nebraska Kearney, throughout my senior year.
Having financial assistance from Mentors relieves some stress and allows me to focus on ensuring that my plans reach fruition. I am so grateful to this foundation for the way they empower people. Thank you to the mentors in my life for helping me not only see my potential, but also reach my goals. I would encourage all young people to find a mentor and then someday, become a mentor themselves.
